RBC Heritage 2019:  RBC Heritage Round 2: Tee times, pairings, TV info Shane Lowry held a one-shot lead after an opening 6-under 65 at the RBC Heritage on Thursday. Daniel Berger, who missed more than four months due to an injury, was among a group of five tied for second at 66 along with Trey Mullinax, Luke List, Ryan Moore and Ryan Palmer.

Dustin Johnson, No. 1 in the world after finishing T-2 at the Masters, shot 3-under 68 at Harbour Town.2019 RBC Heritage scores: Round 2 suspended in South Carolina as Shane Lowry clings to lead Shane Lowry continued his strong play at the rain-delayed RBC Heritage, moving to 9-under par with two holes left when the second round was suspended Friday because of darkness.

Lowry, who opened at Harbour Town Golf Links with a 6-under 65 after a 78-73 flameout at the Masters last week, knew conditions were worsening and jumped all over the course as quick as he could with birdies on the first and second holes before storms swept the island resort area.

After waiting out a delay of 3 hours, 43 minutes, Lowry played consistently enough to keep in front. Trey Mullinax was a stroke behind after a 68. Top-ranked Dustin Johnson and Emiliano Grillo were 7 under after 67s.

Lowry was among 56 players who’ll return Saturday morning to complete the second round before starting the third. Mullinax, a shot behind when the round began, tied Lowry with a birdie on the 13th. But the Irishman countered moments later with a two-putt birdie on the 15th to take the lead.

Lowry opened with a 65 to take the first-round lead Thursday. The Irishman birdied his first two holes to get to 8 under before play was halted due to a strong storm system that had caused problems throughout the Southeast this week.

“This is one of those days when you look forward to getting back on the couch and watching the guys (in the afternoon) deal with it,” said past RBC Heritage champion Matt Kuchar, a morning starter who finished before the delay. “It’s one of those struggling days where you have gone through your own struggles and fun to watch your friends go through it.”

Mullinax wouldn’t have minded that, either. But instead he played into the fading light as the wind picked up over his final holes. He said he backed off twice on his five-footer on the 18th to finish with a par.

Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen

Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen : Watch Bundesliga online There are five games remaining in the Bundesliga season and only one point separates first-place Bayern Munich and second place Borussia Dortmund. If either team drops point, it could cost them the championship.

On Saturday, Bayern host Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena. Werder are seventh in the table and fighting for a spot in the Europa League. Bremen are one point behind sixth-place Hoffenheim but have Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg only one point behind them.

Bayern have been the best team in the Bundesliga since Dec. 1, when they beat Werder 2-1. That win turned around Bayern’s season. Niko Kovac’s team won 15 of 17 games to overcome a nine-point deficit and pass Dortmund in the table. Serge Gnabry scored both goals in the first game against Werder. Gnabry have helped rejuvenate Bayern’s attack. In the last five games, Gnabry has scored four goals and added three assists.

The emergence of Gnabry and Kingsley Coman have replaced the long-standing duo of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery. Gnabry, Coman and Robert Lewandowski will lead Bayern’s attack on Saturday. Lewandowski leads the Bundesliga with 21 goals this season.

Werder Bremen are unbeaten over their last 12 games, picking up 24 of 36 points. Davy Klaassen has been an excellent signing after the Dutch midfield had a poor season with Everton. Klaassen has helped solidify the midfield and give Bremen another attacking option. Max Kruse will be the focus of Werder’s attack.

Kruse leads the club with 10 goals and 10 assists this season. However, the issue for Werder will be their ability to defend. The Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen will be broadcast on FS1. Newcastle vs Southampton

Both Newcastle and Southampton have the chance to all but secure Premier League safety with a win on Saturday as the Saints travel to St. James Park, live on NBC at 12:30 p.m. ET or live online at NBCSports.com.

Southampton has turned a corner under Ralph Hassenhuttl, with eight wins in his first 18 games in charge – as many as the previous two managers put together in 52 league matches. The Saints now sit five points above the relegation zone, and with Cardiff City taking on Liverpool on Sunday, the time is ripe for Southampton to pull away. A victory over Newcastle and a Cardiff City loss would put the Saints eight points clear of the drop, leaving their magic point total for safety at just one over the last three matches.

Hassenhuttl could be without regular defender Jannik Vestergaard who has a groin injury, but otherwise the injury news is light. Midfielder Mario Lemina may not be ready to go from his abdominal injury, having missed all of 2019 so far, but the other injured players in Alex McCarthy, Matt Targett and Charlie Austin are all reportedly ready to go.

Newcastle, on the other hand, can mathematically secure its safety with a win and a Liverpool result, and even a draw will put the hosts in a fantastic position. Sitting two points above Southampton and seven above the drop, there’s plenty of uncertainty surrounding manager Rafa Benitez, but they look set to earn Premier League play next season. The Magpies saw their three-match winless run come to an end last time out with a win over Leicester City, but still they have limped down the stretch with just seven points in six Premier League matches since the beginning of March. They too have good injury news, with just the long-term injuries to Florian Lejune and Sean Longstaff the only players struggling coming into the match.

What they’re saying

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez on Newcastle’s relegation battle: “I said 38 points [would be enough] a long time ago. Cardiff have won a couple of games [since then], and now it’s even more important for us to win another game, be sure everything is fine and then we can start thinking about how high we can go.”

Southampton manager Ralph Hassenhuttl on Southampton’s relegation battle: “We have been speaking about the 40 points and therefore we need four more. The good thing is I don’t have the feeling my team is leaning back, they stay focused. Although it is a long season so far, I have a feeling they are very hungry, they want to hunt and take more points. That is a good signal for me.”

Prediction

Home field advantage is massive in these games, and Newcastle will relish having the backing of the home fans. Southampton, however, comes into this game in better form, and will be more motivated to earn points to build the gap. The Saints should come away with a 2-0 win in an exciting game between two scrappy teams.

Newcastle United will look to seal their place in the Premier League in front of their own fans.

It was a 0-0 draw on the South Coast that helped post a vital point on the board earlier in the season but United can finish the job now.

Rafa Benitez will warn his side about complacency after the 1-0 win at Leicester City last Friday.

Lee Ryder’s prediction

I think Newcastle will take the three points here against a Saints side who are haunted by the prospect of the drop.

Even though Cardiff have it all to do, Southampton know they can still get sucked in and won’t be able to relax too much as they focus on taking at least a point.

Barcelona vs Real Sociedad

Barcelona vs Real Sociedad Live : Real Sociedad don’t have the ‘Anoeta curse’ to bank on as they face a confident Barcelona side fresh from a 3-0 victory against Manchester. Barcelona play their La Liga fixture versus Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou this Saturday afternoon. Barcelona vs Real Sociedad updated real-time along with commentary, match report, highlights, scores, results, playing 11s and more on myKhel.

First-place Barcelona looks to earn three more points in La Liga as it takes on Real Sociedad on Saturday as part of Matchday 33. Barca is 22-8-2 with 74 points and a nine-point lead over Atletico Madrid, but the club is coming off a 0-0 draw against last-place Huesca in a match where Barca’s key players were rested. Real Sociedad is in 10th place with a 10-11-11 record and 41 points, with the club hoping to make a late-season push. Here’s how you can watch the match and what to know:

Barcelona: Having just come off a Champions League match against Manchester United, don’t be shocked to see some more players rested here. The league title race is nearly over and it may start being time to give Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez rest when possible.

Real Sociedad: The club is eight-points back of a Europa League spot, and that may be too much to task to overcome. So this team is looking at a ceiling of probably finishing in seventh or eighth. Getting something from this game would just be a bonus.

Following a dominant win over Manchester United to confirm a place in the Champions League semifinals, Barcelona return to action in La Liga with a very important and difficult match against Real Sociedad at Camp Nou. With only six matches left and an eight-point gap over Atlético Madrid in the table plus the head-to-head advantage, it’s almost impossible to lose the title at this point.

But the word almost is still there, which means Barça need to take care of business to wrap up the league as soon as possible. They need nine points from the final 6 games, and with three La Liga matches in a row over the next week there is a giant opportunity to win the title before the semifinal against Liverpool, which would be a big confidence booster as well as a chance for Ernesto Valverde to rest key players between the two legs.

Starting with La Real, which is a really good team that will come to the Greatest Stadium on Earth looking to beat Barça on the counter, the Blaugrana have to take the games seriously and play their best football. We could be celebrating the title for real just a week from now. Barça just need to do their job.Barcelona play their La Liga fixture versus Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou this Saturday afternoon with the triple still very much on the cards.

Ernesto Valverde’s side dismissed Manchester United in their Champions League quarter-final in midweek, a Lionel Messi double and a second-half Philippe Coutinho strike securing a 4-0 aggregate win. Last weekend the Catalans were held 0-0 in league action by Huesca, though they still have a sizeable nine point advantage over Atletico Madrid in second place.

Sociedad are in midtable obscurity after an inconsistent run of form, the Basques currently sitting in 10th position in the table.

Here’s the lineup Valverde could go with for the clash.Marc-André ter Stegen (GK) – The German has now reached 20 clean sheets this campaign after two shut outs during Barça’s 4-0 aggregate Champions League victory against United, a fine total for the 26-year-old.

Sergi Roberto (RB) – Though he lacks a yard of pace, Roberto is an excellent make-shift right-back for Valverde. He offers composure and dependability in a high-pressure position that he is less accustomed to.

Gerard Pique (CB) – After missing the La Liga stalemate against Huesca last weekend, Pique returned for the quarter-final clash with the Red Devils, keeping the opposition quiet bar an opening minute opportunity for Marcus Rashford.

Samuel Umtiti (CB) – The Frenchman has found his regular place in the side taken by Clément Lenglet but could feature against Real Sociedad as Valverde rotates his lineup.

Jordi Alba (LB) – 16 assists in all competitions is a superb total for Alba who has developed into one of world football’s top attacking full-backs since switching to the Camp Nou in 2012.Barcelona can take another step towards securing La Liga’s crown if they beat Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou on Saturday, with the hosts searching for their seventh successive victory over La Real.

Sociedad are 10th in La Liga and travel to Catalonia having lost in each of their previous 22 trips to the Camp Nou, per Soccerway, where their chances look low after winning just one of their last eight games.

The Blaugrana remain on course for a European and domestic treble this season after beating Manchester United 3-0 on Tuesday to advance to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

Wednesday’s seven-goal thriller may have drawn the curtains on the Citizens’ bid for a quadruple but they can exact immediate revenge on the visitors
After playing out not only one of the games of the season but one of the European ties of the century in their Champions League quarter-final second leg on Wednesday, Manchester City and Tottenham will lock horns again at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday in the Premier League.

With Pep Guardiola’s Citizens denied of a historic quadruple in a manic seven-goal thriller that saw Spurs progress to the semi-finals on the away goal rule, the hosts have a chance to exact immediate revenge in the race to defend their domestic crown.

With the Carabao Cup already secured and an FA Cup final date on the horizon, City can still complete a treble at home, but the evisceration of their continental dreams once more is a bitter pill to swallow.

The Champions League is gone but the Premier League title is on the line now, and nothing less than two wins will do. City cannot rely on Liverpool dropping points in their remaining matches.

Guardiola’s problem is that he has to find a way of picking his players up off the floor after the incredible drama of their European exit to Spurs.

He looked shattered and devastated himself at the final whistle, and understandably so. Right from the start, the action was absolutely relentless – and that continued for the entire 96 minutes.

I was there for BBC Radio 5 Live and it was that good to watch that there was no time to breathe. It is difficult to think of a better game I have seen, and as a spectacle it was just staggering.

City put so much energy into trying to get through – and to lose when you think you have won, in the way they did when their injury-time goal was wiped out by VAR, is especially cruel. It will be hard for everyone at the club to come to terms with.

Manchester City have to accept ‘cruel’ Tottenham defeat – Guardiola
They gave everything, but they have no time to feel sorry for themselves because there is still so much to play for.

City have still got six games left this season, and if they win them all, finishing against Watford at Wembley, they will win the Premier League and FA Cup and complete a domestic treble.

That would be an unbelievable achievement and I am sure Guardiola’s message to his players will be along those lines. One trophy has gone but there are still two more to go – let’s go for the hat-trick.

Spurs will be running on pure adrenaline

Tottenham players are ‘heroes’ – Pochettino
I have a gut feeling City will beat Spurs on Saturday, but everything about the game is going to feel very different.

There was a sensational atmosphere at the Etihad on Wednesday night. Guardiola asked for the fans to show him they cared about the Champions League, and they certainly did that.

It will just not be possible for their supporters to create the same sort of intensity inside the stadium on a Saturday lunchtime, but the City fans still have a big part to play.

They did their bit to help City go after Spurs in midweek, and they can lift the players again. They have to try because, if things feel flat at all, that will only help the visitors.

Manchester City fans at Wednesday’s Champions League tie
The Manchester City fans created a magnificent atmosphere at the Etihad Stadium for Wednesday’s Champions League tie with Tottenham – can they lift their team again on Saturday?
The Tottenham team will also have some tired bodies in it, but the difference is they are returning to the scene of a famous victory.

They lost on the night but still got the result they wanted and put in a brilliant performance to get it. As a player you just don’t feel tired after results like that, and they will be full of confidence and running on pure adrenaline.

Of course Spurs had a little bit of luck along the way, but they withstood all the City pressure on Wednesday and thoroughly deserved their victory. Over the two legs, they were the better side.

City will have regrets from first leg too

Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Manchester City: Pep Guardiola pleased with City performance
City can take some positives from the way they played on Wednesday into the weekend, but they cannot afford any more stupid mistakes or missed opportunities if they are going to get the result they want this time.

When City look back on how the Champions League tie was lost, then defensively they clearly could have done a lot better at the Etihad.

Aymeric Laporte has hardly put a foot wrong all season but his mistakes cost City two goals, and Ederson should have done better with the first of them too.

When you have conceded three goals at home you probably don’t deserve to go through – but they will have regrets from the first leg too.

I was surprised Pep did not pick a more attack-minded side but really the reason that night went wrong for them boils down to Sergio Aguero’s missed penalty after 11 minutes.

Things would have been very different if he had put that away. City would have been ahead in the tie, and had an away goal too.

Instead they had to wait until Aguero scored in the 59th minute of the second leg to lead on aggregate, and there were more twists and turns to come.

Atletico Madrid vs Eibar

Get a summary of the Atletico Madrid vs Eibar football match.

Madrid: Barcelona might have their eighth title in 11 years all-but sewn up but, with six games left to play, La Liga is far from finished.

Atletico Madrid are battling city rivals Real Madrid for bragging rights and second place while Sevilla, Getafe and Valencia are in a three-way scrap for the last Champions League spot.

Real Betis, Athletic Bilbao and Alaves could all make the Europa League, and at the other end of the table, seven clubs are facing the threat of relegation, with five of them separated by only three points.

Barcelona sit nine points clear of Atletico and will be confirmed as champions later this month if they beat Real Sociedad on Saturday, Alaves and then Levante at Camp Nou on April 27.

The title could be wrapped up sooner if Atletico slip up, with Diego Simeone’s side away to Eibar on Saturday before a tricky game at home to Valencia next week.Ernesto Valverde is likely to rest players to keep them fresh for their Champions League semi-final against Liverpool but it is important to maintain momentum too, not only for those two legs but also the Copa del Rey final against Valencia next month. Barca have a treble in their sights.

Madrid rivals chase second

Finishing ahead of Real Madrid for a second consecutive year might not make up for Atletico’s early exit from the Champions League or their timid title challenge but it would still be an impressive achievement for a club that continues to punch above its weight.

For Real and Zinedine Zidane, making up the four-point gap would be scant consolation for a miserable season that cannot end soon enough.

They play at home to in-form Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, when focus will again be on Zidane’s selections and any clues as to who might stay or go in the summer. Gareth Bale, left out against Leganes on Monday, looks likely to be on his way.

Sevilla look to close fourth

They were title challengers in November, doubtful to make the top four in March and now Sevilla are favourites to take the final Champions League spot ahead of Getafe, whom they visit on Sunday.

Four wins, including one over rivals Real Betis last weekend, and a draw since Joaquin Caparros swapped his role as sporting director for coach has put Sevilla one point ahead of Getafe, whose own challenge will go down as one of the most remarkable stories of the season.

Valencia are only three points back and will profit whatever the result at Coliseum Alfonso Perez, as long as they win on Sunday away at Betis.

Getafe lead Europa League charge

That qualifying for the Europa League might end up as something of a disappointment for Getafe speaks volumes for their season but, as well as Valencia, in contention for the top six are also Athletic Bilbao, Alaves and Betis.

Bilbao were facing a relegation battle after winning only one game before December but a surge under new coach Gaizka Garitano means they are now only three points off sixth.

Alaves were fighting for the top four only a few weeks ago but have tailed off while Betis might have to beat Valencia this weekend to keep their hopes of a European place alive.

Relegation fight open

Huesca look doomed at the bottom of the table and Rayo Vallecano, five points adrift of safety, may have left themselves with too much to do, even if they win at home to Huesca on Saturday.

But three points separates Real Valladolid in 18th and Girona in 14th, with Villarreal, Levante and Celta Vigo in between.

Valladolid have the most to do while Girona are highest but arguably in the worst form, closely followed by Levante, who still have Real Madrid and Atletico to play.

Villarreal have a knack of self-destructing but should survive and Celta seemingly cannot win without Iago Aspas, although he is back from suspension on Saturday, for a crunch game at home to Girona. The Decision’, also the programme’s title, took several months to materialise as a very public and protracted tug-of-war between Atletico and Barcelona left both clubs feeling aggrieved.

Griezmann might even have gone a year earlier, in the summer of 2017, when Manchester United thought he was theirs until the Frenchman opted to sign a new contract, persuaded that Atletico’s transfer ban would prevent them from buying a replacement.

But his new deal was not definitive, with a release clause included that would drop to 100 million euros 12 months later.

“Of course he can leave at some point,” said coach Diego Simeone shortly afterwards.

“I love watching my players grow, and if one of them tells me they have the unique opportunity of playing for a certain team, after they did everything they could for me, like Griezmann has done, I’ll say it’s not a problem.”

But Barcelona were too eager and Atletico reported them to Fifa for an illegal approach. Griezmann declared he would decide before the World Cup while Luis Suarez spoke about the deal as if it was already done.

Many were surprised when the answer to Barca came back a no.

The world’s star players rarely turn down its most glamourous clubs and after four years at Atletico, Griezmann could have been forgiven for feeling his time had come.

Perhaps it had. Atletico trail their opponents this weekend by eight points in the league and their hopes of playing in the Champions League final at their own Wanda Metropolitano were dashed last month, after a last-16 defeat to Juventus.

The expectation is that a disappointing season will be followed by a string of departures.

Bayern Munich have already announced the signing of Lucas Hernandez while Diego Godin, Filipe Luis, Jan Oblak, Jose Gimenez, Thomas Partey and Saul Niguez have all been linked with exits.

But, along with Oblak, currently perhaps the world’s finest goalkeeper, Griezmann would be the hardest to absorb.

“I cannot imagine the next season without him because he has a contract with the club,” Simeone said last week.

“Antoine will remain with Atleti, for sure,” said the club’s president Enrique Cerezo.

Barcelona’s interest appears to have cooled, perhaps given the improved performances from Ousmane Dembele or perhaps because their pride simply prevents them from going back again.

But for Griezmann, who turned 27 last month, another year like this is surely out of the question.

Most would consider him behind only Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of talent, and even if Barca have moved on, other elite clubs would surely be keen.

It means Griezmann is likely to have a spring in his step tomorrow, when Atletico will hope to reduce the gap on Barca to five points with seven games left to play.

At least one will falter, giving Real Madrid a chance to move closer if they can beat Eibar and bounce back from a 2-1 defeat to Valencia on Wednesday, their first since Zinedine Zidane’s reappointment.

There is no other way to describe the bitter end of this year’s European campaign. After the feat against Atletico Madrid, it truly felt like this could have been our year, but instead we came across an apparently formidable Ajax team.

And we did not go out due to bad luck or random stuff, but by being severely outplayed, both at home and on the road, which is inexcusable. Maybe Ajax is indeed on a mystical run and I hope they go all the way because how they play is truly amazing, but it would have hurt less if we got bounced by Los Colchoneros.Either the sudden equalizer smacked them in the teeth so hard that they were never quite able to recover, and unfortunately mental toughness has often been a liability for Juventus in Europe,

The or they just run out of energies and got pushed around by much more dynamic enemies. Likely a combination of both and we did arrive limping at the final stretch of the season, as evidenced by the long list of injuries. Juventus have not had a brilliant playing style in forever, but that has not stopped them from being dominant on several occasions. The collapse can not be justified only with the differences between ‘beautiful game’ and a more methodical and conservative approach.
